The Bosch PS31-2A 12-Volt Cordless drill/Driver is an excellent drill for both the handyman and power user alike, due to it’s high torque rating – 420 inch pounds, it does not have the weight of the heavier 18 volt models but it still has more than enough power – it can easily snap the head of a 4 inch decking screw when driven fully into a railway sleeper for instance – as we found out!!

On with the review of this drill, the gearbox of the PS31-2A is all metal construction and it is the usual 2 speed affair, the two speed ranges are 0 to 350 RPM and 0 to 1300 RPM which should cover most situations you should come across.
10 position clutch
There is also a 10 position clutch for screw driving duties as well as a 3/8? Single Sleeve Chuck which is solidly constructed and is a joy to use – the jaws are carbide by the way and are extremely rough. The drill has an automatic brake, so if you take your finger off the switch the chuck comes to a complete stop immediately, the inbuilt bit storage is also extremely useful – no more lost bits when you are 20 feet up a ladder for example. The drill in hammer mode was also extremely powerful – easily drilling hundreds of 6mm holes into masonry during testing for example.
What is the quality of Channellock’s 2-speed lithium-ion drill/driver, model 363886 ? It has 1200 rpm. I don’t know the torque. It comes with two batteries, a fast charger and a canvas case. What’s your opinion?
