After much research I deceided to purchase this driver. I haven't been disappointed. It has pleanty of torque and the battery charge is lasting as promised. Great product.

5 out of 5 stars Solid tool   April 7, 2008
Bob Allten (St.Augustine, Fla.)
I've been building furniture for over 30 years, and I've used driver drills made by Makita, Bosch, DeWalt and Milwaukee with excellent results. All, however, used NiCad batteries. With the demise of my 5 year old Bosch,it was time to investigate newer battery technology.I researched and "test drove" driver drills and impact drivers with both NiMH and Lithium ion batteries. I chose a driver/drill because I need both excellent torque for driving and high speed for clean drilling.Lithium ion batteries are great, but the cost/benefit ratio didn't justify the extra expense for my application. A good amp/hr NiMH would give me what I need with little "battery memory" issues.
I selected the Panasonic because of the "beast" of a battery it possesses, good size/weight, high torque, high speed, good features, positive reviews by colleagues, and the great price brokered by Amazon.
I've used the tool for a month now, and it meets all of my expectations. It feels good. It performs all of my applications very well, and it's tougher than a two dollar steak. Obviously, the ultimate test will be determined by it's performance over time. However, Panasonic's reputation for quality industrial tools leads me to feel confortable with my purchase.

5 out of 5 stars PANASONIC 12VOLT DRILL/DRIVER   May 27, 2008

I love this drill. So much that this is the third one I've ordered.
I've tried them all - MAKITA, DEWALT, MILWAUKEE, ETC., and none stack up to this one. As an electrician, I like the fact that it is small and light enough for installing switches and receptacles, but strong enough to drill 3/4" holes with no problems. The 3.5 amp hour batteries just go and go. I know that lithium batteries are the new "in" thing, but I'll give them a little time to iron out the bugs.

5 out of 5 stars great all-around   July 28, 2008

I first purchased this same cordless several years ago, which one of the batteries has recently stopped taking a charge. I just purchased this second for more batteries and felt the price was right for a second drill.

The batteries typically do recharge quickly, and for a lightweight tool, it is quite powerfull. The 1/2" chuck capacity makes it much more versitile. There are times I've needed the torque of a corded drill, but not often.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding in every way   August 9, 2008
M. Hurley (Los Angeles, CA USA)
Having owned many cordless drills over the years, I can say that this Panasonic Drill is by far the best I've owned.

This drill exudes quality and is a pleasure to use. I'm also glad that I opted for the model with the 3.5 amp/hour batteries...they seem to last forever compared to my previous drills.

Yes, this drill costs more, but you really get what you pay for!
